Mt Seymour

Mt Seymour is Vancouver's favorite local ski hill, attracting both the world's top pro riders as well as those who are new to the sport.

Challenge

Mt Seymour's corporate look and feel was outdated and because of it they were starting to lose market share in the local market. As action sports guru's, Cowie and Fox was the logical choice for rebranding this Vancouver landmark. The challenge in this was that their target market was equally split between two very different markets, young families and hardcore skiing and snowboarding youth.

Solution/Approach

Cowie and Fox created a logo that spoke to both target markets in a way that they related to the brand. The icon is made up of three snow capped peaks: the "S" of Seymour and a skier’s track. From there we developed the "For the Most" campaign. This works well because it can easily be adapted to talk to all of their markets; For the Most Snow, For the Most Rad, For the Most Lessons, etc. With a new logo and positioning line in hand, we created two distinct looks to cater to both of their two markets. While each is very different from the other, they both are easily recognizable as Mt Seymour. The next step was to produce a brand standards guide that enabled the client's junior in-house, design team to create all of their own marketing materials. We then carried the look and feel of the creative into their new interactive website. A powerful e-commerce engine designed to drive sales, with a back-end content management system so they are free to do their daily updates all in-house.

Result/Impact

From their website through to all of their marketing materials, Mt Seymour has a solid corporate identity, brand look and feel, and positioning line that will stand the test of time. In the first year the site went from no sales to being responsible for over 70% of their total annual sales.
